CORYDON, IN (WFIE) -
Corydon City Hall appears to be back open Friday after being closed the past two days, but the front doors of City Hall are still locked. A sign telling citizens they can use the drive-up window.
Charlene Frederick signs her name on a receipt during what appears to be her first day on the job as a new clerk for the city of Corydon.
A move the city won't comment on.
"No comment sir. You will hear from the mayor when she's ready," responded Corydon City Council member William Isom.
Mayor Hilda McCormic and city leaders say they're busy getting the city's affairs in order after the removal of former Mayor Larry Thurby earlier this week.
"We're going through a lot of stuff, getting all this stuff straight so there aren't going to be no comments today," Isom said.
Thursday, the mayor suspended City clerk Lisa Ervin and reportedly hired Councilwoman Beth French's mother to handle clerking duties.
Friday night, those who call Corydon home are calling City Hall's drive-thru service a step in the right direction.
"That's a big thing and saying that they weren't going to shut anyone off and charge anyone, that's huge," said concerned citizen Cheryl Holmes.
But they're hoping for more positive steps in the coming months.
There is no word Friday night on when the front doors of Corydon City Hall could reopen, possibly next week.
