Back to school backpacks: Help Ark Crisis get students off to good start

You can help several soon-to-be kindergartners with new school supplies for their first day.

The Ark Crisis Child Care Center in Evansville provides free, short-term care to families under
stress or in crisis.

They're giving each of their kindergarten-age children a backpack full of supplies.

Walgreens is providing the backpacks and they're collecting donations like paper, pencils, crayons, scissors and other essentials.

Executive Director Angie Richards Cooley says this is a much appreciated service for families.

"So many of them are struggling in so many ways, and to take one burden off of them in order to enable their kids to go to school prepared is huge," said Cooley.

"It's also really great to see our kids get so excited to have something brand new and their very own."

If you'd like to donate, drop off supplies at Ark between 7:30am and 5pm Monday through Friday.

The center is located at the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Governor Street.
