PERRY CO., IN (WFIE) -

A semi tractor trailer said to be carrying a food product caught fire on I-64 in northern Perry County Thursday.

Fire, Police and EMS were dispatched to the scene just before 6:00 p.m.

The fire, which Perry County Sheriff's Deputies say started near the front of the tractor, consumed the tractor in moments.

The driver reportedly had just enough time to pull the semi to the side of the road and jump out, escaping injury.

Anderson Township Firefighters extinguished the blaze, saving the trailer from any major damage.

Clean-up crews are reportedly still on scene and will be there for the next few hours. Gas tanks were exposed during the accident, and crews are currently removing those from the scene.

The Perry County Sheriff's Department is investigated the crash. No one was injured.
