Daviess Co. Animal Shelter needs your help

DAVIESS CO., KY (WFIE) -

Officials with the Daviess County Animal Shelter say the shelter is bursting at the seams with animals, and they need your help.

Shelter leaders tell 14 News the summer months are the most crowded time of the year for them.

This is because people don't spray and neuter their animals this time of year. The shelter has lots of kittens, puppies, and dogs up for adoption.

14 News is told people are keeping their older pets and bringing in their litters to the shelter because they say they can't take care of them.

Shelter hours are Monday through Wednesday 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday noon to 6:00 p.m. On Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m..

You must be a Daviess County resident to adopt.

"I have to take every animal that comes in the door if you're a Daviess County or McLean County resident. So eventually I do have to start euthenizing to make room and that's the last thing we want to do," said Danielle Hutchinson with the animal shelter.

Dogs are $70 to adopt, kittens $60, and cats $30.
