McGary Middle School recently received a $1 million federal grant.
McGary was one of just three schools in the state of Indiana to receive the School Improvement Grant, or S.I.G.
Marsha Jackson, Chief Communications Officer for EVSC says McGary already has net books in place in the classrooms, so the money will most likely go toward a variety of other areas.
Among them, it will go toward an increased focus on the S.T.E.A.M., or science, technology, engineering, arts and math initiative.
Another part will also go toward incentives tied to teachers and student achievement.
"One of the things they really noticed was that while their classroom activities are working just fine, the student engagement part was lacking a little bit, so they're looking at being more creative and really engaging the kids," says Jackson.
McGary is the third EVSC school to receive the grant. Glenwood Leadership Academy and Evans have also received it in the past.
