The Green River Area Development District is looking for 16 new people to join Americorps.
Tuesday was the first information session in Daviess County.
The Senior Americorps Group will serve for a year. They'll be placed in local agencies providing services and counseling to seniors to improve their quality of life and allow them to remain independent.
Members will be given a living allowance of $1,200 a year and free health insurance as well as a $5,000 education award.
Americorps is looking for people age 55 and older to apply.
"Gives people an opportunity to give back to the community. Americorps members when they enroll in the program sign up to do a minimum of 1,700 hours of community service. It's roughly equivalent to a full time job," said David Clark with Americorps.
Another session will be held Wednesday in Henderson at the Gathering Place on North Elm Street at 1:00 p.m.
