Highway 261 construction in full swing outside of schools

WARRICK CO., IN (WFIE) -

Construction is in full swing on the expansion of Highway 261.

The bulk of it is now taking place outside five Warrick County schools. Those schools are: Castle High, Castle North and South, John H. Castle Elementary, and the Warrick Education Center.

With school just two weeks away, Superintendent Brad Schneider is reminding parents and students to drive carefully in the area. The project won't be complete until 2014.

"We will remind parents again to be very cautious in that area, to allow extra time if they are going to drop their children off at school especially at the start of the school year that seems to happen more often. Parents drive kids to school, instead of allowing them to ride the bus," Schneider said.

Schneider says later in the school year there may be some changes such as drop off locations or dismissal times.
