Five new events at Hopkins County Fair this year

HOPKINS CO., KY (WFIE) - The Hopkins County Fair gets underway tonight, July 24th, and organizers are excited about several new attractions for the 5 day event.

There are plenty of activities for each day of the week starting Tuesday night with the Miss Hopkins County Pageant.

There will be the KTPA Truck Pull tonight at 7, a truck tug of war and mud racing tomorrow at 7 p.m., and a motorcycle stunt show on Friday night.

Organizers said they wanted to re-vamp the county fair with new and exciting events, but also include the traditional activities including rides and pageants.

One fun new event is also the celebrity obstacle course on Thursday night, these celebrities include the Mayor of Madisonville, the police chief, the circuit court judge, and many more. They'll be blindfolded while driving an all-terrain vehicle through obstacles while being guided by a co-pilot.

The price is the same as it's been in years past, $10 dollars for a daily pass to the fair. That doesn't include any food, drinks, or games.

There are plenty more events. You can find the whole list on the fair website.

Organizers are expecting up to 30,000 people this week at the fairgrounds.
