Drought and heat likely to continue for months

Posted: Updated:
TRI-STATE (WFIE) -

The latest forecast from the Climate Prediction Center is calling for more heat and dry weather for the tri-state over the next several months.

For August, there's a 60 percent chance for above normal temperatures.  For the August through October time frame, there's at least a 50 percent chance for above normal temperatures.

But the worst news has to do with the on-going drought.  The CPC predicts the drought will persists or intensify from August through October for not only the tri-state, but many areas of the country.

The forecast doesn't mean we won't see any rainfall or cool temperatures, but overall the pattern will stay similar to what we've been seeing with dry conditions and warmer than average temperatures.
