Online programs expanding at OCU

OAKLAND CITY, IN (WFIE) -

Online programs continue to grow at Oakland City University, with fall semester only a few weeks away.

The university is now offering a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, which can be earned in 18 months.

The Criminal Justice program joins an ever expanding list of online classes including religious studies, business, and even an MBA.

But with this class, students are given an iPad, which includes all of their course information and even their textbooks.

Online Learning Coordinator Mark Simpson says that's one example of how online learning has changed.

"The difference is the portability. A student can take the iPad with them and they don't have a separate keyboard, so they have to learn how to use that, but because people are so used to using smart phones, they already know how to use the iPad device for typing," Simpson told 14 News.
