EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -
An Evansville boy says he was attacked by another boy and forced into a dog kennel, then beaten.
14 News spoke with nine-year-old Jackson Williams and his mother.
Police aren't quite sure what to do with this case since the two boys have given conflicting accounts of what happened, but we know a couple of things for certain. Jackson Williams has a concussion and his blood is smeared on the neighborhood's sidewalks.
Jackson says he was walking to a friend's house Wednesday afternoon, when he ran into some neighborhood boys he knows.
"These three kids stopped me, and when they stopped me, we started to play. And the boy that was beating me up, he came down on a scooter and said, why am I there?" Jackson recalls.
Jackson says that boy grabbed him and forced him into a nearby animal cage. While inside, he says the boy started poking him with a straw and threw a baseball at him.
And when Jackson managed to get out, he says the situation worsened.
"I poked him back, so he punched me in the face a few times and threw me up against the gate. I got up and started running. And he chased after me, pulled on my shirt, threw me down on the ground. My head hit the ground and started bleeding," said Jackson.
Jackson had a large cut on his forehead, just above his right eye. His mom, Monica Williams said she heard Jackson's screams for help and called 911.
"I was sitting in the living room and I heard a kid cry. And you can instinctively pick out your children's cry. He was just gushing blood," Monica told 14 News.
Jackson's blood trail can easily be seen moving between the nearby firehouse and his family's front yard.
Monica says her son was taken to Deaconess Hospital and was diagnosed with a concussion.
Police say no charges have been set in this case, since the other boy tells police Jackson started the fight.
"We got two conflicting stories. So we have one child making one claim, one child making the other. And we have to sort that out as well," said Evansville Police Captain Andy Chandler.
Monica Williams says she doesn't believe the other child's story, but she says it's unlikely she will press charges.
"The police pulled me aside before I left and said they're going to give it to the prosecutor, their Juvenile Prosecuting Attorney. But being that they're both young, they don't foresee anything really happening," she said.
Chandler says an investigator will be assigned to this case, to figure out exactly what happened.
