EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The Evansville-Vanderburgh Public Library is in the process of replacing about 240 desktop computers with new energy efficient, longer lasting, thin clients.

It's all part of the unexpected $1 million the library is receiving this year, due to a computer error within the Indiana Department of Revenue.

These thin clients have a 24-inch monitor, a life span of seven years, and only use about one-fifth the energy the old computers use.

"This is something we have wanted to do, we were going to do it, we just had no idea that we would be able to do it so soon. So, I think it's a benefit to everybody. It's a benefit to us, it's going to save us some money and you know, in turn a benefit for the community too," said Marketing and Community Relations Specialist Miranda Knight.

About 40 computers have been replaced so far.
