FLOYD COUNTY, IN (WAVE) – The southern Indiana man arrested for his wife's murder 22 years after she was found dead in the Ohio River was convicted of the crime on Friday.

Christopher Baxter, 54, was found guilty of murder in the June 1990 bludgeoning death of Robin Baxter, 31. Her remains were found in the river four days after she vanished. The coroner said she suffered multiple blows to the head.

Testimony in the trial began July 11 in New Albany. Prosecutors said Baxter talked about murdering his wife in 1990, and a person who overheard details of the crime finally came forward.

Baxter was arrested in February.  He will be sentenced August 7.
