The London Olympics could be a soggy affair

Posted: Updated:
LONDON (WFIE) -

The summer Olympics are fast approaching, but there may be something missing from these games - summer sunshine.

As athletes continue to arrive in London, Britons are hoping for a little sun, but so far its been the wettest summer on record, fueling concerns that the constant downpours could affect London's Olympic games.

The British are used to bad weather, but even this country is surprised by how dreary this summer has been.

In recent weeks, the torch has made its tour around the country despite driving rain, wind and cold but fingers are crossed that bad weather could break by opening ceremonies in just 9 days.

The bookies are taking rain bets on just about every event; odds are two-to-one the men's 100 meter will be a wash out.

But ultimately, the athletes will have to suffer through whatever mother nature dishes out.
