Police to return money confiscated in 2004 drug investigation

MADISONVILLE, KY (WFIE) -

In Madisonville, Police Chief Wade Williams says a court ruling means the police department must return thousands of dollars confiscated in a 2004 drug investigation.

The statement says $25,000 will be returned to Terry Bivins because portions of that investigation could not be substantiated due to criminal actions by former police evidence technician Brian McKinney.

In 2010, McKinney pleaded guilty to theft and agreed to pay the city $50,000 after an audit revealed firearms, money and property missing from the evidence room.
