Give blood, get a free Holiday World ticket

VANDERBURGH CO., IN (WFIE) -

The American Red Cross is hosting its Celebrate Freedom Blood Drive.

As an incentive, those who donate blood receive a free Holiday World ticket. The Red Cross says there's a summer shortage of blood supplies and the goal is to help refill the shelves at 19 area hospitals.

"Typically in summer months, it's a little harder to get donors in as people are busy with their summer schedules or on vacation," said Julie Krizen with the Red Cross. "Right now, there is a critical need for blood. That's why these two drives today and then next Monday are so important to just ensure that there's enough people to donate blood and to keep blood readily available on the shelves."

Over 140 people donated blood on Monday. Part two of the drive will be next Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 6 p.m.
