The Perry County United Way will be hosting an event for school supply donations this weekend.
It's called the Stuff the Bus Multi-County School Supply Drive. Officials say buses from the Spencer and Perry County School Corporations will be parked at the Tell City Walmart on Friday and Saturday.
Shoppers will be asked to donate any school supplies they can to either one or both corporations. The donations will be given to families in need.
Local businesses are encouraged to hold their own school supply drives to combine with Stuff the Bus.
"It's a huge need, and we try to meet those needs, fill those gaps so that every child has the chance to start off school on equal footing and are prepared to do the work. It also bolsters their self-esteem." said Rebecca Fenn with United Way.
Officials say they are only accepting new items, and they're accepting monetary donations as well.
