OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

Practices for fall high school sports are right around the corner and registration is underway for a school sports symposium in Owensboro to teach parents and kids about improving performance and preventing injury.

This symposium is a great opportunity for athletes to learn more about staying safe during their individual sports.

The format is an open discussion and there's going to be several different professionals on hand to answer any questions that parents or kids might have.

One of the hot topics will also be concussions, how to prevent them and how to treat them.

As we know football season is right around the corner and there will be parents wondering about that.

It's a one day event and it gets underway next Tuesday July 24. There's two sessions, one in the morning at 10 and one at night at 5:30, with both lasting an hour.

Registration has already begun and the best part about it, is the program is free.

You can register by calling the health park at 1-800-811-9162.
