GALLATIN CO, IL (WFIE) -

An Illinois man was cited on Sunday after a crash in Gallatin County.

Illinois State Police say 23-year-old Joseph B. Riecks of Equality, Illinois was driving westbound on IL Route 13, approximately 500 feet West of Duncan Lane, when his car crossed the center line and sideswiped the tandem wheels of a horse trailer that was being pulled by a truck driven by 54-year-old Nicky A. Stevens of Clay, Kentucky.

Troopers say the collision with the horse trailer caused the car driven by Riecks to overturn and come to rest on its top.  The pickup pulling the horse trailer came to rest in the right lane of traffic.

Riecks was transported by Gallatin County Ambulance Service to the Harrisburg Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries he sustained in the traffic crash.  Riecks was wearing a seatbelt, and a two-year-old female passenger in Riecks car was not injured.  She was secured in a child safety seat.

Authorities say Stevens and his passenger, 44-year-old Nicole Stevens, were not injured as a result of the crash.  Both were wearing their seat belts.

Troopers say Riecks was cited for Improper Lane Usage, DUI, and Endangering the Life of a Child.  Riecks was held at the White County Jail after being released from the hospital.
