EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The future of Haynie's Corner brought several residents and developers to downtown Evansville Saturday. It was a meeting to generate ideas on how to improve the arts district.

Residents of the four Haynie's Corner Arts District neighborhoods met to brainstorm ideas for downtown improvements and how to make them happen.

The city's Department of Metropolitan Development tells us over 10,000 residents live in arts district neighborhoods, making it the most dense neighborhood area of the city.

Local planners say resident-led ideas like transportation and business improvements will help draw more residents and shoppers to the area.

"It's taking an already established arts district and expanding upon it, getting the word out, marketing it, and improving opportunities for area artists or to draw people in and as well for the residents, improvements that would encourage people to call this home," said Public Involvement Coordinator at Barnadin, Lochmueller, & Associates, Inc. David Goffinet.
