OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

Traffic is down to one lane on the Blue Bridge in downtown Owensboro this morning.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, an electrical crew will be checking navigational lights on the bridge structure.

The lane restriction is expected to be in place from about 8:30 a.m. until about 12 Noon.

Motorists can expect to encounter one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers.

Delays should be minimal, generally less than 4 minutes.

Also known as the Blue Bridge and the Glover Cary Bridge the 4,622 ft. structure connects KY 2262 and Indiana State Route 161 over the Ohio River at Owensboro.

Approximately 8,500 vehicles cross the Ohio River on the Blue Bridge between Kentucky and Indiana in an average day.

The structure opened to traffic in September 1940 as a toll bridge. The tolls were discontinued in 1954.
