Several homes were evacuated as a precaution Wednesday afternoon in Daviess County after someone found a training grenade in a fire damaged mobile home.
Daviess County Sheriff's Deputies say someone cleaning a mobile home on Reid Road found what appeared to be a military hand grenade. The Owensboro Police Department Bomb Unit was notified and verified the device was a training grenade.
Officials say the device may not have been considered lethal, but it was capable of causing serious injury.
Similar devices can be obtained by legal means and charges are not pending at this time.
