Daviess County fire departments get new rescue tool

Posted: Updated:
DAVIESS CO., KY (WFIE) -

Fire departments in Daviess County have new equipment designed for grain bin rescues.

The local FFA chapters from Daviess County, Apollo and Owensboro Catholic High Schools have donated two, much needed, rescue devices to the Daviess County Fire Department.

They're tubes that go down in a grain bin to help save anyone trapped inside and the fire department will show how these work later on.

There are a lot of farmers here in our region and not too long ago a Gibson County farmer did get stuck in a bin and could have died if it wasn't for this kind of rescue device.

The demonstration starts at 9 this morning at the Daviess County Fire Department located off Hwy 54.

The FFA will also be here to talk about the devices and the public can see how they work.
