Group patrols Christmas Lake on lookout for python

SANTA CLAUS, IN (WFIE) -

The search party that on the lookout for an exotic snake on the loose in Santa Claus, Indiana say they haven't seen him yet.

Members of Tri-State Herpetology Society patrolled Christmas Lake for 16 hours Monday looking for a large Albino Burmese Python.  It was reportedly someone's unwanted pet dumped in the lake.

It's considered a threat to small pets. The search crews say if the snake is out there it won't survive for long.  Nighttime temps are dropping into the 60s, which are temps too cold for it to survive.

The Herpetology Society members also say if anyone has a reptile they can no longer care for don't release it.  Give them a call and they will find your pet a new home.
