DAVIESS CO., KY (WFIE) -

The Owensboro Help Office received help on Tuesday from the Owensboro City Commission.

Because of the recent heat wave, the city commission gave $25,000 to the Help Office to assist Daviess County residents who had their power shut off.

Those seeking assistance need to provide their utility bill and proof of household income. Applicants will then be interviewed by a Help Office worker.

"This is so fabulous because we need it so very much.  We really do and we really appreciate it.  We have never gotten this kind of assistance before and to have the city recognize what we do is monumental for us," said the Help Office Director Sharon Sharp.

The Help Office's hours are 9:00 p.m. until noon Monday through Friday.  It's located at 1316 Fourth Street.
