Fans available for those in need

Posted: Updated:
EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Two local churches are helping supply some elderly members of the Evansville community with free fans to help them stay cool.

Family Bible Church donated several dozen box fans to Liberty Missionary Baptist Church, near downtown Evansville.

They're now distributing the fans to those who need them.

So far, close to 30 people are being helped because of the donation.

"We just truly want to be a blessing.  There's so much negative that we are always being bombarded with, and we're just so grateful to be able to be a positive in the community.  And it's not a black thing or a white thing, it's a God thing," said Minister James M. Johnson, Senior Associate Pastor at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church.

Minister Johnson says they received more fans from Family Bible Church than they expected, so now they're looking for others in need.

If you are interested, contact the church at 422-4628.

Johnson says they are primarily looking to help the elderly and says they will be checking to make sure recipients don't already have fans or air conditioning.
