LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Frank Shields still can't believe the news.

"We're just as flabbergasted as everyone else," said Shields.

His 15-year-old son Aaron was one of four boys killed by Herbert Lee, who was driving them home from a Youth Alive church event on December 18, 2008. Lee crashed into a tree on First Street just past Hill Street while fleeing police in a stolen car.

Thursday night, Lee was arrested again while allegedly driving a stolen car. Lee was arraigned in court Friday on charges of receiving stolen property and driving on a suspended license.

"To be honest with you, the first thought that went through my head when I heard the news was identifying my son's body. They had to show us the picture upside down," said Shields, who did not believe Lee would ever be a danger again. "We left it with God in the courtroom, free from it. I was hoping he was really on the right track. I'm just sad this is the way it has to end up for him."

Rita Hayes is the former president of Youth Alive. Hayes, who now lives in Memphis, did not know about the arrest until I her.

"Oh you're kidding," said Hayes. "I'm surprised, very surprised. My understanding was he was trying to stay out of trouble. It's very sad for all the families involved."

"The law system is so bad now," said Shields. "It's letting them come right back out and do the same thing over and over, and that's the saddest part.

The judge raised Lee's bond to $10,000. He was released seven months ago after serving a one year prison term for manslaughter. The sentence Lee received was the maximum allowed under juvenile law.
