HENDERSON, KY (WFIE) -

We have new information on a serious accident in Henderson County last night. It happened around 8:30 on Highway 1078 South.

The Henderson County Sheriff's office says they have arrested 31-year-old Bradley Maynard for driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Deputies say Maynard swerved off the road to avoid hitting an animal. Instead, the car hit a tree stump, sending the vehicle airborne.

One of the passengers, 30-year-old Craig Kalley was Life Flighted to St. Mary's and then taken to a hospital in Louisville. His condition is unknown right now.

Officials say the quick thinking of Scott Lowe, a resident of Florida, who was visiting his family and was near the location of the accident, helped. Deputies say Lowe made a tourniquet for Kalley to help control his bleeding. By doing so, authorities say Lowe helped stabilized Kalley until emergency crews arrived.

Officials say Maynard was arrested at the scene for driving under the influence.

As of right now, Kalley's condition is unknown.
