EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

A two-year-old child is back with his parents Thursday night after he was found alone in a First Avenue store.

Evansville Police say a CVS employee called 911 when a child ran into the store wearing only pants and a blanket.

EPD says the child had a cut on his head. He was turned over to Child Protective Services and was taken to the hospital.

Police say the parents called officials looking for the child. EPD says the two-year-old was tall enough to reach the deadbolt on a door, and warn all parents to make sure their doors are secure.

"Any place where a child can slip out from the confines of a secure environment, make sure those are secured with latches, locks, something that a child could not reach or could not push a chair next to," advised EPD Capt. Andy Chandler.

EPD says they are still investigating but don't suspect any foul play.
