MT. VERNON, IN (WFIE) -

Mt. Vernon Police are asking for your help to identify a person of interest in a case of indecent exposure.

Police say they've received reports of a man pulling down his pants in public in front of women.

Officers hope surveillance video will help find him.

Thursday, the police department released that video from a gas station where investigators say the suspect flashed a worker in the parking lot.

When you fill up at the Hucks on Main St. in Mt. Vernon, you may look at gas prices, check out what's on sale, maybe even grab a snack. What you don't expect to see: A man with his pants down.

"I think it's disgusting, and needs to be caught," said gas station customer Amanda Davidson.

Detectives say surveillance video shows the first incident on May 31st into June 1st.

Investigators say the suspect waited until the female gas station employee was leaving for the night before approaching her vehicle and exposing himself.

Then, about a month later, police say they had a similar report matching the same description.

This one at the home of a women and young girl.

"In these situations, the perpetrator can become more and more bold and get more and more aggressive with the type of behavior that they participate in," said Mt. Vernon Police Department Chief Grant Beloat.

Police say they haven't had a case like this in a year, and they want to put an end to the situation before it becomes worse.

"That's part of the hope, that we are able to get this before it develops into any real pattern," Chief Beloat said.

Investigators say these cases are typically under-reported because victims are embarrassed.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Mt. Vernon Police or Posey County dispatch.
