WARRICK CO., IN (WFIE) -

It was a rainy Independence Day for many communities where residents hadn't seen a good rain in two months. Along with that much needed rain, came some minor damage.

Our viewers captured the rain on handheld cameras, celebrating what's been a rare sight recently.

The 4th of July storms brought the most rain some of our communities have seen in two months. But with it came lightning, wind, and damage.

Viewers sent in pictures of blown-over grills and damaged sheds in Warrick County. Our camera crews saw this tree over lines at Pine and Lincoln in Newburgh, and cones are still set up on State Road 662 in Warrick County where a large tree blocked all lanes for about an hour Wednesday afternoon. Nearby residents say it came down with a big thud.

"Just happened to be looking out the barn door and just see the top of the tree start leaning over and come on down. It was pretty neat to see. Never seen any tree that big come down," said Newburgh resident Brad Berkemeier.

At 6:00 p.m. Wednesday night, 1,400 Vectren customers were without power. According to maps, 250 homes still are without power at this hour.
