TRI-STATE (WFIE) -
There are some important bans and restrictions you need to know about as Independence Day celebrations begin across western Kentucky.
With the recent heat and dry conditions some events across the Tri-State have changed but here's what folks can expect across western Kentucky today.
In Daviess County, private use of fireworks is *not* forbidden but highly discouraged today.
All fireworks displays will need a permit, supervision by a licensed professional, and have a fire department truck on standby.
Keep in mind there is also a burn ban in effect.
The only exception is cooking fires, such as grills where the fire is enclosed and covered.
Violators of the ban could be fined up to $500.
In Henderson County, personal fireworks *are* banned for all residents and the same restrictions for a burn ban are also in effect.
In Hopkins County, no one is allowed to set off fireworks unless supervised by a licensed professional with a fire department truck on location.
It will remain in effect until the county sends out another public notice.
And a burn ban for the county is also in place.
THe public fireworks shows are still on schedule for tonight in those counties.
In Daviess County the show starts around 9 tonight at English Park.
In Downtown Henderson at 9.
In Madisonville, the city fireworks are still on but that could be changed depending on the weather, it's at the City Park at 9 p.m. also.
