Several areas in Indiana under fireworks bans

Posted: Updated:
TRI-STATE (WFIE) -

Due to the dry conditions there are several firework bans in the Tri-State along with canceled firework shows.

The public fireworks show at the Evansville Riverfront is still taking place tonight around 9, but that could change if the wind picks up today.

The mayor could make that decision as early as 10 this morning.

Personal fireworks are banned in the City of Evansville at least through Friday and personal fireworks are now banned in the county as well.

The Town of Darmstadt has also banned fireworks until July 14.

In Gibson County, there's also a burn ban in effect. Personal fireworks are banned there until July 9. The 4th of July fireworks show at the fairgrounds is still taking place with precautions.

Newburgh has postponed and rescheduled their public fireworks show.  It's now set for Friday, August 24. It'll be during Fiddler Fest.

Personal fireworks are also banned in Warrick County and the scales lake firework show is canceled. However, they want you to know that the Kiwanis volunteers will still be selling their homemade ice cream by the riverfront this weekend.
