EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The stuff inside Roberts Stadium will be sold at auction. Officials have been taking an inventory of what's stacked in rooms and corners.

The sign at Roberts Stadium went up Wednesday morning, and the auction set for August 4th with two preview days ahead of that.

Inside there are all kinds of things that are headed for the auction block. If the price is right, it could be yours.

However, most of us don't have much use, not to mention space, for a gigantic scoreboard or an entire basketball court.

But that doesn't mean they won't sell.

"When they sold the Hoosier Dome, colleagues of ours sold the entire floor and an individual purchased it for his company and his employees then sat on the floor," said Andrew Wilson.

Wilson is the principal auctioneer for William Wilson Auction and Reality. They're the New Harmony based company organizing the event at Roberts Stadium on August 4th.

Right now, they're busy organizing and cataloguing everything from basketball hoops to boilers, and stadium seats to original 1950s bathroom sinks.

If you're feeling patriotic, an American flag's for sale, too.

"There is not a better tribute to a place, a facility like this than a public auction. The public can feel a part of it, they can attend, they can see the things that they have memories about and buy them and take them home with them," Wilson said.

"I've seen a lot of events over at the stadium," Jeff Gardner said.

He's lived across the street from Roberts for most of his 54 years and he's curious to take a peek and say goodbye.

"I'm going to go over there," Gardner said. "I think it'd be interesting. Be the last time I'd be able to look around and remember events and things I've been to."

Wilson is hoping many others feel the same way because just about everything inside the Evansville icon must go.

You can bid either here at the sight or on the William Wilson Auction and Reality website.

As for tips, go to those preview days to get an idea of what you're interested in. Then on auction day, go early and know what you want. Have your payment ready. The auction company takes cash, credit card, and company checks.
