36-year-old Henry Lee Whistle of St. Croix, has now been formally charged with the murder of 31-year-old Jamie Renee Stowe. 

The charge of murder is the most serious charge on can face under Indiana law.

At approximately 8:14 p.m., Sunday, the Tell City Dispatch Center received a 911 call from 26790 North SR 37, St Croix, in reference to dead woman in the residence. 

Perry County Sheriff's Deputies arrived and found Jamie Renee Stowe's body inside the home. 

Deputies immediately secured the residence and called for assistance from the Indiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Investigators. 

The preliminary investigation revealed that Jamie and her fiancé, Henry Lee Whistle, had gotten into a physical fight. 

Through the investigation detectives established enough probable cause to preliminarily charge Whistle with Aggravated Battery, a Class B Felony and Domestic Battery, a Class A Misdemeanor.

An autopsy was conducted Monday afternoon in Tell City.  The pathologist determined that the primary cause of death was blunt force trauma to Ms. Stowe's head, neck, chest and abdomen. 
 
Whistle is being held at the Perry County Jail with no bond.

The Initial Hearing of the Defendant was held today, Tuesday July 3, 202 at 8:30 a.m. in the Perry Circuit Court.  

The Defendant is scheduled again in Court on July 16, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. for further Pre-trial Conference.

"I am grateful for the coordinated efforts and expertise of the various law enforcement agencies during the investigation and arrest of the Defendant in this case," said Perry County Prosecutor Acchiardo.  "I hope this will begin the process of closure for the family and friends of Jamie Stowe, although there clearly remains much work to be done.  As in all criminal cases the Defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proved guilty in a court of law."
