OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

Despite the intense heat, it's estimated that 21,000 people showed up for the three day Bluegrass Music Festival at Yellow Creek Park.

2,000 to 3,000 camped out for the ROMP Festival. Organizers say the music made up for any inconvenience.

"It's an outdoor thing. I mean people knew the weather before they got there and they still showed up. Not just single day tickets, but they camped out there," said Danny Clark with the International Bluegrass Museum. "Camping increased 35% and they knew the heat was coming and they're in tents that just intensify the heat."

Clark says the plan is to make next year's ROMP Festival even bigger and better.
