The extreme heat has brought on some struggles for many people, whether it's higher bills or hard working conditions. But believe it or not, for some people, the hotter the temps the better.
"Oh we love the heat. Everyone has been dreading the heat, but we are definitely hot weather people around here," said Tina Hughes.
Hughes is happy about this heat because she's the Vice President of FireMaster, Inc., a local pool store. They've seen a boost in sales because she says everyone is looking for some type of relief.
"They want some place to cool off and even if it's 10:00 at night, I mean you can get in a pool or hot tub and feel good," Hughes said.
Yes, she meant to say hot tub. Hughes says her customers who don't want to wait on pool installation are buying hot tubs and using them as pools by leaving the heater off.
But she says, waiting list or not, people are still coming in wanting pools. So if you want one, she says you better hurry.
"We've gone through, I've had three truck loads of pools come in. We're down to our last. The company is actually running out of material," Hughes said.
They're also selling a ton of pool chemicals.
"There's a lot of people that don't realize with the amount of heat, too, you have to really make sure the chemicals are good in your pool. Otherwise, you're going to have some cloudy pools and some algae building pools," Hughes said.
The employees at FireMaster are working seven days a week just to keep up with demand.
"The guys are starting about 4:00 or 5:00 in the morning, trying to beat the heat, but they are getting the pools in for the people," said Hughes.
Hughes says if you have a pool that feels more like a bath tub right now, freeze some jugs of water and toss them in. That will cool your pool within minutes.
