Extreme drought continues to break records in the tri-state

Posted: Updated:
TRI-STATE (WFIE) -

Even though some lucky tri-staters saw rain for the first time in weeks on Sunday, officially not even a trace was recorded in Evansville and the drought is still considered extreme for the majority of the area.

Only two days in June had measurable rainfall with only .15 inches recorded, making it the driest June since records began.

Going back to February, this has been the driest stretch of weather ever recorded in the tri-state. When you include January, the only month this year with a small surplus of rain, it's the fourth driest year on record so far.

We've only had 11.53 inches of rain this year... 12.62" below normal. Although we'll have a few more small chances for rain this week, no widespread soaking rain is expected.
