Fireworks sales declining with rising number of burn bans

TRI-STATE (WFIE) -

With most areas under a burn ban and many under a fireworks ban, are those who sell fireworks hurting for business?

The owner of Kaboom Fireworks in Warrick County, Kenny Brinkley, says the area where his shop is located is not under a burn ban, but he says he has still seen a slight decline in business this week.  Brinkley warns those who are still buying fireworks to be extremely careful.

"Water everything down if you are going to shoot them. Keep water at hand if you're going to shoot them, buckets of water, a fire extinguisher, hoses, and just be super careful if you're going to light them," Brinkley said.

Brinkley says business is also a bit lower because the Fourth of July is on a Wednesday this year instead of over a weekend.
