A single vehicle accident in Edwards County, Illinois has claimed the life of a 22-year-old man.
Illinois State Police says 22-year-old Eli L. Sams was driving southbound on Red Hill Road around 7:40 a.m. Sunday morning when he ran off the right side of the roadway.
They say Sams lost control of the his car and crossed the road before running off the left side of the roadway. Troopers say the vehicle then struck an embankment and overturned several times before coming to a stop.
Authorities say Sams sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Edwards County Coroner.
Troopers say he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
