LOUISVILLE, KY (WFIE and WAVE) – An accident in Old Louisville has claimed the life of an Owensboro man.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office, Michael J. Willinger, 21, died of multiple blunt force injuries he sustained in the accident.
Police said they responded to an accident in the 100 block of Hill Street around 4:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Carey Klain said Willinger, who was driving a Toyota Camry, cut through a parking lot from Hill Bend Road to Hill Street and pulled out in front of a Chevy Avalanche.
She said the driver of the Avalanche, a 51-year-old man from Clarksville, Indiana, was traveling west on Hill Street when Willinger pulled out in front of him trying to turn left onto Hill Street.
The coroner said Willinger was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:11.
According to police, Willinger was not wearing a seat belt and they believe alcohol played a role in the accident.
Willinger was a 2009 graduate of Daviess County High School.
