Walnut Creek Cosmetic Dermatologist announcing free skin consultations for people in Walnut Creek seeking cosmetic dermatology services. The Advanced Laser and Skin Care Center provides laser skin care, cosmetic dermatology and liposuction.

Walnut Creek, CA (PRWEB) June 29, 2012

Walnut Creek Dermatologist, Dr. Tomcik, Owner of Advanced Laser and Skin Care Center says, “No two faces are identical, even on identical twins. The condition of our skin varies depending on a number of factors such as sun exposure, skin complexion, social and cultural backgrounds. With over 30 years of experience I personally evaluate each patient’s current skin and make recommendations based on my knowledge and experience that will best help that individual.”

According to Walnut Creek Dermatologist Dr. Tomcik, skin appearance varies based on factors from heredity and ethnicity to the kinds of foods people eat and the time people spend sleeping or in the sun. To choose the best skin care routine people should understand skin and how lifestyle and environment affect it.

Walnut Creek Dermatologists at Advanced Laser and Skin Care Center organize skin into six types, with type I being the lightest and type VI being very dark. "A person of African descent with skin type VI doesn't show visible signs of age as quickly as a blond-haired, blue-eyed, light-skinned person of Scandinavian descent, at a level one," says Dr. Tomcik. “Ethnic groups that tend to have more melanin and whose people originated near the equator often have skin that looks younger than that of lighter skinned people.”

According to Dr. Tomcik, an experienced Walnut Creek Dermatologist, as people age their body begins to slow production of two components of the skin: collagen and elastin. This leads to fine lines and wrinkles. The breakdown of these proteins is made worse by sun exposure and gravity, and results in the sagging appearance of aged skin. A person’s skin continues to change as they age. It becomes thinner, drier, and more fragile as the inner layer of skin (the dermis) starts to thin. Fat beneath the skin, in the cheeks, chin, and nose, disappears, causing skin to sag. Facial hair increases, pores enlarge, and women going through hormonal changes may experience acne and breakouts similar to those in their teen years. “During the consultation I spend the time necessary to truly understand a patients needs and to make the best skin care recommendation possible applying my over 30 years of experience. I am very proud of the services I have been providing the community including being selected as one of the Bay Area’s Top Doctors in 2010.
