OAKLAND CITY, IN (WFIE) -

A woman was killed in a crash near Oakland City Thursday night.

It happened just after 6:00 p.m. on State Road 64 just east of town.

Investigators say the passenger 40-year-old Amy Kathleen Copley died when the vehicle ran off road, into a ditch and then struck a tree. Copley was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sheriff George Ballard says the driver, Tommy J. Biggs, was injured and taken to St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville.

Preliminary alcohol and drug testing indicated that Biggs was under the influence of alcohol, marijuana, prescription antidepressants and prescription pain medication at the time of the accident.
