Cable channels up and down the dial have targeted the ArkLaTex including CMT, A&E, The History Channel and VH1.
The reality show "My Big Redneck Vacation" is the latest reality show to find a home here in Northwest Louisiana.
"We get just as much excitement watching as everybody else, " says Aimee Pitts who signed her family and friends up for the show online.
She adds she was shocked with officials with CMT called her back for a phone interview. The next thing she knew, the network was shipping them off to the Hamptons, for their first 'fish out of water' experience.
"Do you have boudin?", was one of the first questions offered up by our northwest Louisiana rednecks when they arrived at a grocery store in the Hamptons. The obvious answer was no.
The premise of the show is to show so called rednecks clashing with various other cultures. In the Hamptons, the potential clash claim as they met the millionaires who call that stretch of the east coast home.
"Not to judge people, that's what I learned", adds Pitts.
And as much as Wendy Thomas doesn't mind being called a redneck, she realizes they went into the show with similar perceived notions about the rich.
"They were very accepting and welcoming and wanted to learn more about us," says Thomas.
After wrapping up their trip to the Hamptons, it was off to England for season two. The group just returned from their 10-week stay a couple of weeks ago.
"My Big Redneck Vacation" airs Saturday nights on CMT.
