NEW HARMONY, IN (WFIE) -

New Harmony School Superintendent Fran Thoele says the New Harmony School building and property will be put to use after the school closed its doors in May.

Thoele says at Tuesday's Town Council meeting a 5-0 vote allowed a transfer of public properties, putting the school property in the hands of the town of New Harmony.

She tells us the town is leasing the building and property to the Metropolitan School District of North Posey for $50,000 a year.

MSD of Posey County School Board President Joe Neidig says the building will be used for storage and the board will be looking into other opportunities for North Posey students to use parts of the facility, such as the gym.

Thoele says the Head Start program will remain in the New Harmony School building.
