EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

It's something we hear all the time: "Wash your hands. It protects you from germs that could make you sick."

But it sure isn't healthy if that soap you use has metal embedded in it.  An Evansville man says he found exactly that when he washed up.

Jason Young is scratched and maybe even scarred from a recent experience with a bar of soap.

Young was soaping up and the tip of a piece of metal about a half inch long was sticking out just enough to leave evidence behind, long cuts to his forearm.

"A lot of people use a wash rag. As far as me, and I know my son, when we do use soap, actual bar soap, you just don't think about it. If you were to use it on a child, three or five year old child, it could have been a whole lot worse and left lasting scars," Young said.

Young says the soap is Lever 2000 and they bought it at the Dollar General Store. Young and his wife took it back to the store, and they told him to call the company. The company offered him a gift basket of their products.

Young said he is probably not going to accept it.
