EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The University of Evansville is holding an engineering camp all this week.

"Options" summer camp introduces kids to the basic fundamentals of civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering as well as computer science.

The university professors heading up the workshops tell 14 News these hands-on camps give the kids an idea of what engineering is all about.

"It's a really good idea to introduce engineering in the early stages of your school career. They get a feel of what's engineering, what's the different areas of engineering. So that it kind of prepares them mentally, 'ok I like building stuff, so I want to be a civil engineer'. It gives them a focus," said Immanuel Selvaraj, assistant professor of civil engineering at UE.

The camp goes from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. all week.
