WARRICK CO., IN (WFIE) -

The months of planning are over and it all comes down to this week, as the United Leasing Championship gets underway at Victoria National Golf Club in Warrick County.

"We're so excited about getting the week started. We've been planning for so long and waiting for this moment so it's so nice to actually be here and get it started," said Susan Hardwick, the chair of volunteers for the tournament.

It takes many sets of hard working hands to make this event run smoothly. Organizers started showing up as early as 4 a.m. Monday morning to get started.

"We have volunteers emptying trash cans, feeding people, doing hospitality, and driving carts. We have every job imaginable," Hardwick said.

Every single one of those jobs is being done by volunteers.

"We've got people from the entire tri-state. We've got people coming to volunteer as far away as Georgia, and Alabama. We've got a grandmother here working with her grandkids, so we've got a lot of excitement here, a lot of great volunteers ready to help us get this done," Hardwick said.

Organizers say it's the little jobs that make this big event a success.

"There's people inside the ropes keeping score and being standard bearers and spotters and marshals," said tournament director Becky Kasha.

She says each volunteer will work four to five hour shifts, multiple days this week. Most are taking on this responsibility on top of their regular jobs.

"The entire PGA Tour runs on an army of volunteers. We absolutely could not do it without them," Kasha said.

If you want to go to the tournament, park at Castle high school and take the free shuttle over. Tickets to get on the course are $10 for one day. Tournament play begins Thursday.

We will be broadcasting 14 News at six live from Victoria National on Wednesday, and 14 News Sunrise will be there live on Thursday morning.
