EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -
A downtown Evansville restaurant and bar has shutdown and laid off its employees.
The sign on the door to Fast Eddy's reads, "Closed for renovations, under new ownership" and the property owners say the concept simply wasn't working anymore and now it's time to close the doors on Fast Eddy's for good.
Investor Curt John says Fast Eddy's, next to Casino Aztar, closed overnight.
John tells 14 News that Fast Eddy's closing was a business decision and it's employees have been laid off.
The restaurant and bar has been open since 1996 and while some customers say they aren't surprised, others say they're sad to see Fast Eddy's come to a screeching halt.
"Shocker. I think it's part of Evansville and it should be around. You know, it's kind of sad that it's closing," said one customer.
"People I knew don't go there anymore and that was it, but I definitely know there's a different crowd there now, said another tri-state resident.
"I think it's kind of bad because it's really fun. People go there on Thursdays. Everyone kind of looks forward to going and stuff like that and now you can't I guess. You guys need to open back up," said a disappointed customer.
John says they're working to figure out whatever the new concept they want to come into this building. They hope to have that all figured out by sometime later this fall.
