Lawrenceville soldier honored and remembered

LAWRENCEVILLE, IL (WFIE) -

A southern Illinois soldier who paid the ultimate price, is being remembered and laid to rest Monday.

20-year-old Trevor Pinnick, from Lawrenceville, Illinois, was killed June 12 in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He died of wounds suffered when his unit was attacked with an improvised explosive device.

He was a graduate of Lawrenceville High School, which is were the service was held.

Hundreds of residents came out to pay respects. Those who honored Pinnick on Monday say his sacrifice will always be remembered.

"This young boy, he went over, and he gave his life for me and my family, and I didn't even know him," said Jim Stork with the Patriot Guard.

"We're here in force, and we're here to show our support, and they know that we are here for the sacrifice their families had to make," said Cpl. Douglas Hall of the U.S. Marine Corp.

There services were followed by Specialist Pinnick's burial in Vincennes. The young solider is survived by his wife, Martha and daughter, Melody who will turn two years old next month.

Other survivors include his mother, Nancy Pinnick, of Mt. Carmel; father, Thomas Pinnick, of Alton, Ill.; twin sisters Kayla and Bethany, and a brother, Thomas.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Wounded Warriors Organization.
